The Pleasant Mount Historical Society was established in 1985 by a small group of local citizens interested in preserving the history of the town. To date, the Society has over one hundred members and has completed many successful initiatives.
In the spring of 2003, the Pleasant Mount Historical Society acquired the O’Hara House in the village of Pleasant Mount. The purchase was made possible by generosity from the O’Hara family, along with several fundraisers, and a capital campaign lead by General Dan O’Neill and his wife, Dr. Alice O’Neill. Since acquiring the home, the Society has worked on restoration and the creation of a museum displaying many local antiques and historical items. The museum is open to the public and serves as the heart of local family and area history.
Mount Pleasant offers great sophisticated scenery and mixture of different types of housing through out the city. After the year 1985, residents of Pleasant Mount founded the Historical Mount Pleasant to further maintain and preserve the enhancements of the district. The district is now a historical protection list for its fine detailed urban life.
